2017 Winter Market Preview – Feb. 4

Come join the crowd, enjoy two different noontime presenters (the ol’ two-for-one!) and grab some fresh, local produce at the Saturday Winter Farmers Market at Lodestar Gardens this Saturday, Feb. 4, starting at 11 a.m.

Please call (928) 587-1660 or e-mail bhockabout@gmail.com for a map and directions if you haven’t made a visit to Lodestar.

Enjoy free space for vendors, free hot beverages, free farm tours (bring some boots or durable shoes because there’s still mud hanging around), and delicious homemade lunch for just $2 (soup, salad and Clark’s ancient grain bread).

This weekend we have two different featured presenters at 12 noon. Tony Tangalos, who currently serves as the Resident Manager at the Kerr-Cole Sustainable Living Center in Taylor, will speak to us about sustainable community design. Attendees will learn about some of the core components of the Homesteader’s Haven sustainable community design – including food and water systems, energy production and communications security. In addition to Tony, Razel Wolf will share information about cultural practices in the Twisted Hairs tradition that will look to enhance personal growth and creativity.

We will have a variety of Lodestar produce on sale, including our Asian Greens mix ($3, 1/2 lb bag – $6, 1lb. bag), Swiss Chard, Kale, carrots ($3/lb.), dried lavender and other herbs, and our homemade, 8oz. jars of pesto (walnut $8, pine nut $10, non-dairy $12). All of our packaging is eco-friendly made of cellulous, reusable, recyclable (and compostable) bags.

Our local master studio potter, RA, will be selling some of his ceramics, while we will also have goat’s milk soap ($6/bar) from Amy Bateman’s Misty Mountain Milkers from Snowflake.

Kevin Ascherfeld’s cast iron Dutch Oven-roasted Concho Coffee will be on sale for $15/bag, Donna Daniel’s wonderful, handmade fiber arts will be available in a variety of sizes and prices, along with Monte Cunningham’s accupressure treatment tools and several other products from local artist and vendors.

If you haven’t visited us yet, there’s no time like the present!
